One of the biggest challenges in confronting a deep-seated emotional issue is experiencing the painful emotions as you start to confront them. Aromatherapy using pure essential oils can help make the process more bearable. Essential oils can also shift the emotional energy into something more neutral. As the smell of the oils reaches the brain, it stimulates certain parts of the brain, thus breaking through old mental patterns.

Aromatherapy can help with depression, anxiety, stress, and general overwhelm. Try taking 5-10 minutes every day to apply a a few drops of an essential oil blend to your forehead, throat, and chest, and meditate on the emotion or issue you want to clear. Always breathe in and out slowly and steadily to help with the process. 

Here are a few simple essential oil blends you can use to support your emotional healing. 

Ideally, you will use a glass bottle (approximately 10-ml). Plastic can hold onto the essential oils and may also leech into the blend itself. Put the oil in the bottle first and then vegetable oil such as jojoba, grapeseed, or almond oil.  

Depression
Orange - 5-6 drops
Grapefruit - 3-4 drops 
Lemon - 3-4 drops

Anxiety
Lavender - 3-4 drops
Bergamot - 2-3 drops
Ylang Ylang - 2-3 drops

Broken Heart
Sandalwood - 5-6 drops
Jasmine - 2-3 drops

Rose - 2-3 drops

Financial Stress
Basil - 4-5 drops
Patchouli - 3-4 drops
Peppermint - 3-4 drops

Overwhelm & Fatigue 
Sage - 4-5 drops
Lavender - 3-4 drops
